Gabby and Cameron got to wear face makeup and blood to look like creepy little kid zombies. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to take some pictures of them…which I regret. There were a few folks who asked to take pictures of the kids, so hopefully I’ll find them posted up on the Zombie Walk Facebook page shortly.

Amy and Magnus went dressed as Ghostbusters, myself as Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th movies. We all had a fun time and walked the entire 1.5 mile walk. The walk organizers collected more than 4000 lbs of canned goods for the Mid-Ohio Food Bank as well. Glad to be a part of that by pitching in a bag full of canned goods from our cupboard.

The idea for the helmet was to add a pair of “macrobinoculars” to it which would allow my character to see things at a farther distance. This same idea can be seen added to a few select clone troopers as well. The main problem with doing such a thing is that the regular helmet only has one attachment point for a rotating antenna on the right side for the range finder. I literally had to copy and build a new attachment point to the left side so the binoculars could attach to both sides of the helmet. Finding ear caps for the helmet were a challenge as well because they again are normally made for only one side being an antenna. After some work at the armor party I was able to scavange the ear caps off of a Hasbro Boba Fett toy helmet and make them work.

That big old bunny came last night and left some movies, candy, and playdoh for the kids. They seemed to enjoy what they got.

Cameron had cub scouts again last night after a break for two weeks.  Upon walking in we found that the night’s project was to make a kite from scratch.  With some dowel rods, string, tape, butcher paper and dad’s construction skill we fashioned together this bad boy.

After putting it together we took t out to do a quick test run to make sure it could get off the ground…despite having little wind it did stay up for a breif while.  We plan to getmore string and give it a proper flight sometime this weekend.

The new addiction that is “Draw Something” has been sweeping the phone and tablet market lately…if you aren’t playing it yet you should be!  The game has an easy premise, similar to the famous Pictionary of the past.  Get a word, try to make your partner guess the word by drawing it.  They get help this time around, however, in the form of a bank of letters at the bottom of the screen.  Watch out, though, there are extra letters and they are all jumbled up.

It’s fun to see what crazy concoctions your friends can come up with, but alas it does have its “cheaters” who will just write out the answer after a few failed attempts at drawing it.  I myself, would rather take onthe task of trying to guess it instead of being told the answer.  While word use in Pictionary is a no-no…in the Draw Something world it’s generally accepted as longas youare only using words as leading clues along with your pictures.

The app is free on the Google Play market…although there is a $.99 version that offers more words and gives you coins to use towards purchasing more colors to draw with.
